
Ever since Tom Cruise`s `Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning` hit Indian theatres on May 17, fans have been rolling with excitement, with celebs from B-town also giving their honest reviews of the film.
Farhan Akhtar lauds Tom Cruise starrer
Actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar was clearly “mind-blown” by the latest instalment of the action-packed franchise. Akhtar took to his Instagram Stories to praise the film, along with Cruise`s performance.
“Mind-blown!! What a ride… @tomcruise brings the MI series home in style… and how!” Farhan wrote.
Kunal Kohli unimpressed with Mission: Impossible-The Final Reckoning
However, not everyone felt the same way. `Hum Tum` director Kunal Kohli felt the film “didn`t live up to the franchise`s reputation.”
Calling it a “yawn fest,” he wrote, “They did the impossible. Messed up a #MissionImpossible film. What a yawn fest. Sad end to one of the greatest franchises ever. Will just forget they ever made this one and rewatch the rest of the great MI films. @tomcruise, now make another one. Can`t end like this.”
Mission: Impossible weekend collection
The film, widely believed to be the final in the Mission: Impossible franchise, has managed to maintain a strong hold at the box office with consistent audience turnout and high occupancy in urban multiplexes. While the prior release Dead Reckoning Part One had collected only Rs 63.5 crore in five days of its release, this one has proved to have a remarkable start with a consistent grip and Rs 30 crore collection in just two days.
Prior to its India release, the Tom Cruise starrer had its grand premiere at the 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival on its Day 2. Tom Cruise, along with the other cast members, walked the carpet.
Mission: Impossible receives 5-minute-long standing ovation
On Day 2 of the Cannes Film Festival, Tom Cruise brought the house down with the premiere of his upcoming action thriller Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, receiving a standing ovation lasting about five minutes. This thunderous response from the viewers left Cruise emotional, as he was seen with watery eyes. Tom Cruise was joined by director Christopher McQuarrie, as well as fellow cast members Hayley Atwell, Simon Pegg, Hannah Waddingham, Angela Bassett, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, and Greg Tarzan Davis on Day 2 of the festival.
