We are almost certain it will adopt the ‘Pura’ naming, as the company’s upcoming event is all about ‘Pura’ products. The launch event will take place on March 20, and the company’s chairman just gave us a first look at the company’s “unexpected product”.
Richard Yu, the company’s chairman, shared a 12-second video on Weibo, in which it gives us a glimpse of the upcoming phone. This is definitely not what you’d expect out of a clamshell foldable, that’s for sure.
If you take a look at the image shown below, you’ll be able to see the device. If it seems to be a lot larger than you’d expect, when unfolded, well, you’re right. This phone seems to have a 16:10 aspect ratio when unfolded, and it does look quite large in the hand.

Richard Yu says this is “more than just a mobile phone.” It will still fold vertically, and it has very thin bezels around the display when unfolded. You can also see a display camera hole on the display, which is centered.
It definitely looks like a mini tablet in the hand when unfolded, that’s for sure. What we’re wondering about is… how will this function when you fold it. Considering it folds vertically, it’ll be quite wide even when folded.
In fact, it even makes us wonder if this thing has a regular cover display or just a tiny one. If it’s a larger display on the outside, it will be quite wide. There are so many questions we have regarding this design.
