High alert sounded after police say three Pakistani terrorists entered

A high-security alert has been sounded in Bihar after inputs that three Pakistani terrorists affiliated with the Jaish-e-Mohammed have entered the state from Nepal, PTI reported on Thursday.

The police have identified the three alleged terrorists as Hasnain Ali from Rawalpindi, Adil Hussain from Umerkot and Mohammed Usman from Bahawalpur.

The Bihar Police headquarters issued an alert to all district police units and released the names and photographs of the three men.

State Director General of Police Vinay Kumar said that district units and other wings of the police have been told to keep a close watch to thwart “any attempt by anti-national elements”, PTI reported.

Motihari Superintendent of Police Swarn Prabhat said that vehicles in border areas are being checked and a reward of Rs 50,000 has been announced for information about the three suspects.

The developments come amid increased visits to Bihar by national political leaders ahead of the Assembly elections slated to be held later this year.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is presently undertaking a “Voter Adhikar Yatra” in Bihar to highlight the party’s allegations of irregularities in voter rolls. The 1,300-km march, which began on August 17, passes through 23 districts and 50 Assembly constituencies, The Indian Express reported.

On Tuesday, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s Bihar chief Dilip Jaiswal said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Purnia, located near the Nepal border, on September 15.
