Superstar Rajinikanth’s latest film Coolie has made its digital debut on Amazon Prime Video, less than a month after lighting up theatres. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the action thriller is now streaming in Tamil along with Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada versions for viewers in India and more than 240 countries worldwide.

Set in the rough and chaotic world of the Visakhapatnam docks, the story follows Deva, a former coolie who takes on a dangerous smuggling network after the suspicious death of his best friend. What begins as a personal quest soon transforms into a larger battle against crime, forcing Deva to confront his own past while navigating themes of loyalty, justice, and survival.

Upon release on August 14, the film generated massive interest as Rajinikanth teamed up with Lokesh Kanagaraj for the first time. Their collaboration promised high-octane storytelling and whistle-worthy moments, and Coolie did not disappoint fans eager to see the superstar in a fiery avatar once again.

The cast also features Upendra, Sathyaraj, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan, with Nagarjuna playing the antagonist. Aamir Khan makes a special cameo appearance. Backed by Sun Pictures and distributed by Pen Studios, the film was released alongside Ayan Mukerji’s War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR. The star-studded lineup and big-banner backing added to the buzz, making Coolie one of the most talked-about releases of the year. The inclusion of surprise cameos and powerhouse names also ensured that the film appealed to audiences across multiple regions, not just Tamil cinema loyalists.

At the box office, Coolie turned into a commercial success, grossing over 514 crore Rs worldwide, including more than 336 crore Rs in India. The film now enters its OTT phase with hopes of reaching even wider audiences.
