‘Actors live very protected lives’
Taking a break from the shoot of Tere Ishk Mein, where he reportedly plays an Air Force officer, Dhanush promoted his upcoming release, Kuberaa, at a Mumbai multiplex recently. In the film, the star plays a beggar who ‘undergoes a dramatic transformation’. The gritty, sweeping film explores themes of greed, morality and ambition. While Tere Ishq Mein will see Dhanush returning to Hindi cinema after four years, Kuberaa, co-starring Nagarjuna and Rashmika Mandanna, marks the Tamil actor’s foray into Telugu cinema. “This film is extremely close to my heart,” Dhanush said, calling the experience of shooting the movie both ‘fantastic’ and ‘weird’, since it took him out of his comfort zone. “We shot at dump yards and inside garbage trucks. As actors, we live very protected lives. We like to do what’s convenient. I come from very humble, rooted beginnings. So to go back and see that world again was both enlightening and nostalgic.” Rashmika said Dhanush aces all kinds of roles in the most effortless fashion. “He inspires us to work a hundred times extra to be 100 times as good as him.”
No laughs without Archana
Kapil Sharma with Archana Puran Singh; Navjot Singh Sidhu
Comedian Navjot Singh Sidhu is reuniting with Kapil Sharma for Netflix’s The Great Indian Kapil Show, calling the collaboration “homecoming”. In a vlog, Sidhu reminisced about helping Kapil launch his show 13 years ago. He said, “Wherever I went, people used to ask me, ‘Why aren’t you returning to The Kapil Sharma Show?’ Coming back now feels like a home run and homecoming.” Before returning, Sidhu ensured he spoke to Archana Puran Singh, who replaced him, saying, “Maine Archana ji ke liye bhi baat kari thi. She is with me on the show.” The third season, featuring Sidhu and Archana as co-judges, premieres on the OTT platform on June 21.
