Speaking on the budgetary demands of the Home Department, in Gujarat Assembly last week, AAP MLA from Dediapada constituency Chaitar Vasava, among other things, sought fixing of working hours for policemen. Vasava said that often policemen are deployed on VIP bandobast duty, for 24 hours. He also cited an incident when a sub-inspector died on duty at the Statue of Unity during Ekta Day parade. He said that prolonged duty hours take a toll on their health and that the condition of women officers becomes specifically pitiable.
Back In The House
Sole SP MLA in the Gujarat Assembly, Kandhal Jadeja, was spotted in the House last week. Clad in a saffron kurta and white pyjama, as Jadeja entered the House, he was greeted by Speaker-in-chair Ramanlal Vora without uttering a word. Jadeja, an MLA from Kutiyana constituency, is among members whose presence is not very regular in the House. Before this, Jadeja was a Nationalist Congress Party MLA from the same constituency.
