One of the reasons cited for the delay in tabling the annual report for 2021-2022 of the Gujarat Minorities Finance and Development Corporation (GMFDC), a state-government enterprise for the welfare of minorities and the specially abled, is the time it took to translate it into Gujarati. An explanatory note in the report, published on the Assembly website, says that the annual accounts for financial year 2020-21 were delayed “due to the worldwide corona” and could be placed in the Assembly only on February 27, 2024, after which the auditing started and it went to the office of the Accountant General in Rajkot in March last year. The report was placed before the Corporation’s Annual General Meeting on September 13 last year. It “took five months in the process of translation into Gujarati” and then printing and publication, the note says.
