At the tail end of last month, Google sent out emails to a select group of Pixel Superfans that hinted at the prospect of getting an early preview of the upcoming Pixel 10 series. However, it seems that the event is no longer happening. Google has been sending out emails to those same Superfans informing them that it can no longer extend an invite to the Pixel Penthouse. The Pixel Penthouse was the name given to the event, which would have taken place in London on June 27.
According to Google, “unforeseen circumstances” have arisen that have caused the need for a pullback on the event. Google doesn’t dive into the details, so it’s unclear what these circumstances are. That being said, Pixel Superfans apparently won’t be getting an early preview of the upcoming devices. But it’s not all bad news for those who would have been invited.
Pixel Superfans may get to see the Pixel 10 at a different event further down the line
As part of the emails Google sent out today, Google is handing out what is essentially a consolation prize: an invite to the next event. The company is going to be sending out invites to what would have come after the Pixel Penthouse. Google is calling this the Pixel Superfans Insider Event.
This new event will be taking place on September 4. Interestingly, Google mentions nothing about what this alternative event will involve. With the previous event, Google was very specific in mentioning that attendees would get an early preview of upcoming Pixel devices. It didn’t mention the Pixel 10 by name, but it seemed like a pretty obvious hint. Considering that the Pixel 10 series should be Google’s next lineup of hardware devices, this is highly likely what the previews would have been for.
Rumors suggest that the Google Pixel 10 release date will be in August. As of right now, it’s still entirely possible that Google will be keeping to this schedule. If that is the case, then it begs the question of what Google plans to show off to Pixel Superfans at the event in September. Perhaps it will still be some hands-on time with the Pixel 10 series. Given the rumored timeline of the Pixel 10 announcement, this would make sense. As there would only be a couple of weeks in between the announcement and this new event. That being said, it would, of course, no longer be an early preview.
Although nothing official about the Pixel 10 has been revealed yet, there have been plenty of leaks. Earlier today, it was reported that Google will release its own line of Qi2 Pixel 10 accessories. Another leak revealed that there will be an exclusive Pixel 10 AI feature called Magic Cue.
