This time around, we’re comparing devices from Google and Motorola. We’ll be comparing the Google Pixel 9 Pro vs Motorola Edge (2025) specs. Granted, the Google Pixel 9 Pro is the more powerful device here. It’s the most powerful phone Google has to offer, next to the XL model, while the Motorola Edge (2025) is a mid-range offering. Motorola’s phone is also considerably more affordable because of it.
Motorola, however, did not launch a proper flagship, at least not in a regular smartphone format. The Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 is the company’s foldable flagship. We’ll first list the specs of both smartphones, following which we’ll compare them across a number of categories. We’ll be comparing their designs, displays, performance, battery life, cameras, and audio output.

Google Pixel 9 Pro vs Motorola Edge (2025): Design
The moment you lay your eyes on these two phones, you’ll notice a ton of differences. The two companies decided to go with completely different designs. The Google Pixel 9 Pro has a flat display, while the Motorola Edge (2025) has a curved one. Both have a centered display camera hole up top, but the one on the Pixel 9 Pro is larger. The Pixel 9 Pro has a more pronounced corner curvature.
All the physical buttons are located on the right-hand side of both phones. The positioning is different, however. The Pixel 9 Pro has a power/lock key above the volume up and down buttons. It’s the other way around on the Motorola Edge (2025). Also, the volume rocker buttons are separated on the Motorola Edge (2025). The Pixel 9 Pro has a flat frame all around, while that’s not the case with Motorola’s device. Both the front and the back of the phone curve into the frame on the sides, which makes the exposed frame rather thin and not flat.
The Pixel 9 Pro has glass on the back, while the Motorola Edge includes eco leather aka vegan leather. Because of that, Motorola’s phone is more grippy, that’s for sure. The camera islands that these two phones have are completely different. The Pixel 9 Pro includes a horizontal camera bar at the top of its backplate. It has a pill shape, and there are three cameras included on the inside. The Motorola Edge (2025)’s camera bar sits in the top-left corner. It protrudes more than the rest of the backplate, and it has a square shape. It has the same material as the rest of the backplate, though, so it blends in nicely. There are three cameras included in there.
The Google Pixel 9 Pro has a considerably smaller display. It’s a compact smartphone. So, it is shorter and narrower than the Motorola Edge (2025). It is also slightly thicker and 18 grams heavier than what Motorola has to offer. Both phones are IP68 certified for water and dust resistance, while the Motorola Edge (2025) also offers an IP69 rating and MIL-STD-810H rating as well. It’s a tough cookie.
Google Pixel 9 Pro vs Motorola Edge (2025): Display
There is a 6.3-inch 2856 x 1280 LTPO OLED display included on the Google Pixel 9 Pro. It supports an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz), and HDR10+ is supported. The peak brightness here is 3,000 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is around 87%, while the display aspect ratio here is 20:9. The display is flat, and it’s protected by the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 from Corning.
The Motorola Edge (2025), on the other hand, has a 6.7-inch 2712 x 1220 P-OLED display. That panel is curved, and it supports HDR10+ content. It can project up to 1 billion colors, and it has an adaptive refresh rate (1-120Hz). The screen-to-body ratio here is at around 92%, while the display aspect ratio is 20:9. Corning’s Gorilla Glass 7i protection is included on top of this panel.
Both of these displays are really good, actually. They’re both vivid, have great viewing angles, and they’re more than sharp enough. The touch response is good on both of them. You have to decide whether you prefer flat or curved panels, though. Also, the Motorola Edge (2025)’s panel does technically get brighter, but the difference is not as big as the theoretical peak brightness would lead you to believe. Both panels are plenty bright.
Google Pixel 9 Pro vs Motorola Edge (2025): Performance
Google’s Tensor G4 processor fuels the Pixel 9 Pro. That is a 4nm chip, and it’s paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM inside of this phone. Google also opted for UFS 3.1 flash storage here. The Motorola Edge (2025), on the flip side, is fueled by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra processor. That is a 4nm chip as well, MediaTek’s mid-range offering. That chip is backed by 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 flash storage.
So, not only does the Pixel 9 Pro have a more powerful processor, it also comes with faster RAM and storage. The Motorola Edge (2025) does offer decent performance in day-to-day tasks, but it cannot compete with the Pixel 9 Pro. Google’s phones is simply snappier in every way, basically. That goes for opening apps to jumping between them, and general use cases that you stumble upon on a daily basis.
Neither of these two phones is great for gaming, well, if you’re planning on playing graphically demanding games. If you plan on playing low-end or mid-range titles, both smartphones will serve you just fine. They can handle basically anything out there, and even run graphically demanding games, but the experience is not great with those. So, keep that in mind, these are not gaming phones.
Google Pixel 9 Pro vs Motorola Edge (2025): Battery
Google’s handset includes a 4,700mAh battery on the inside. The Motorola Edge (2025), on the other hand, has a 5,200mAh battery. That difference is not surprising considering that the Motorola Edge (2025) has a considerably larger display. With that being said, the Motorola Edge (2025) offers good battery life, but it does not edge out the Pixel 9 Pro. In fact, Google’s phones can last longer on a single charge, at least based on what we’ve seen.
The difference is also quite considerable. The current-gen compact flagship from Google actually has great battery life, especially for a compact device. With that being said, for most people, both phones will have more than enough juice to get you to the end of the day, that’s for sure. If you’re a power user, the Pixel 9 Pro may actually be a better choice battery-wise.
The Google Pixel 9 Pro supports 27W wired, 21W wireless (Pixel Stand), 12W wireless (Qi), and 5W reverse wireless charging. The Motorola Edge (2025), on the other hand, supports 68W wired and 15W wireless charging. Motorola’s phone does charge faster in comparison. It takes only around 55 minutes to fully charge. The Pixel 9 Pro will take around an hour and 25 minutes for a full charge, via a wire. Neither phone comes with a charger included, by the way.
Google Pixel 9 Pro vs Motorola Edge (2025): Cameras
Both of these phones have three cameras on the back, but the setups are quite different. The Google Pixel 9 Pro includes a 50-megapixel main camera (1/1.31-inch sensor size), a 48-megapixel ultrawide unit (1/2.55-inch sensor size, 123-degree FoV), and a 48-megapixel periscope telephoto camera (1/2.55-inch sensor size, 5x optical zoom).
The Motorola Edge (2025), on the other hand, has a 50-megapixel main snapper (1/1.56-inch sensor size), a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera (122-degree FoV), and a 10-megapixel telephoto camera (1/3.94-inch sensor size, 3x optical zoom). All three camera sensors on the Motorola Edge (2025) are inferior in comparison.
While image processing can help things when weaker camera hardware is in question, that doesn’t help Motorola much in this comparison. The Google Pixel 9 Pro is the superior camera smartphone in basically every way. That was to be expected, as it’s in a whole other category. It provides photos that are more appealing in terms of colors, while they also look sharper most of the time. The white balance is better, while it also offers better HDR performance.
The Pixel 9 Pro also does a better job in low light, especially with its main camera. Google’s handset has the advantage of having a proper periscope telephoto camera, compared to a regular telephoto shooter on the Motorola Edge (2025). That camera sensor is also considerably larger in comparison.
Audio
Both of these phones include stereo speakers. Both sets are quite good. They’re both more than loud enough, and the audio quality is fine. These are not the best speakers around, not by any means, but they’re good enough.
You will not find an audio jack on either of these two phones. You can, however, use their Type-C ports to connect your wired headphones. Alternatively, Bluetooth is supported by both smartphones, for wireless connectivity.
