
GHMC Official Caught Red-Handed
Accepting ₹30,000 Bribe
Hyderabad: A senior assistant in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) was caught red-handed accepting a ₹30,000 bribe on Tuesday, July 1, by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). The official, identified as M. Sunitha, was working in the property tax wing under Moosapet Circle 23.
According to ACB officials, Sunitha had demanded a bribe from a citizen for initiating and processing a property mutation file and fixing the property tax for their house. After receiving the demand, the complainant approached the ACB, leading to a trap being laid. Sunitha was apprehended while accepting the bribe amount.
An FIR has been registered, and further investigations are ongoing to determine if other officials were involved.
Repeat Offenses in GHMC
This is not the first such incident this month. In an earlier case, GHMC Assistant Engineer T. Manisha, posted in Ward No. 2, Nehru Nagar, Golnaka, Amberpet, was also caught by the ACB for demanding a ₹15,000 bribe to process and forward bills to her superiors. She had already accepted ₹5,000 and was caught while receiving the remaining ₹10,000.
