If you already hated ads on Amazon Prime Video, sadly, it’s not going to be any better. While Amazon Prime displayed fewer ads than other platforms like Hulu and Paramount+, that’s about to change. According to a new report, Amazon plans to double the amount of ad time on Prime Video.

The news comes via Adweek, which claims that Amazon is considering increasing the ad time on Prime Video. The report came after the outlet talked to six ad buyers and reviewed documents. Per the findings, the current ad load is now double what it used to be.
Amazon reportedly also confirmed the double ad time on Prime Video. “Prime Video ad load has gradually increased to four to six minutes per hour,” wrote an Amazon representative in an email to Adweek. Earlier, Amazon Prime Video displayed two to three 30-second ads in an hour. Well, that’s going to get doubled.

Ads are part of the revenue model, and it’s no surprise that the streaming giant will be pushing them even more. Clearly, Prime Video subscribers won’t be pleased with this decision, but there’s little they can do about it. The latest move to double the ad time is in line with Amazon’s plan, which it set late last year. Amazon then told its investors that it would increase the ads starting this year.
Now you must be wondering which platforms have fewer ads. Well, Netflix is the one to have the lightest ad experience. Paramount+ and Hulu are the ones with the most ads. Considering that, Amazon Prime Video, even with double ad time, now sits in the middle ground.
