Garmin, a brand better known for its Forerunner series of smartwatches, has introduced its first sleep-only tracker. Called the Garmin Index Sleep Monitor, it is essentially a lightweight sleep-tracking armband that is capable of lasting for a whole week. Garmin’s new accessory provides users a closer look at their overnight vitals and recovery, and more.
Garmin now offers an affordable armband that offers detailed sleep-tracking
Garmin’s new Index Sleep Monitor accessory is an affordable armband that is capable of providing detailed sleep-tracking features. It can track detailed sleep stages, sleep score, heart rate variability status, and breathing variations. It is a simple-looking device without a screen or buttons, which you can simply strap to your upper arm before going to sleep. The accessory has a design that’s comfortable to wear overnight.
Notably, the Garmin Index Sleep Monitor offers Pulse Ox readings through a pulse oximeter that measures how much oxygen is in your bloodstream. Furthermore, the wearable can track your respiration rate, skin temperature, and stress levels. The device also includes a Body Battery feature, Garmin’s branded technology for monitoring energy levels.
The Garmin Index Sleep Monitor offers sleep-tracking features via a small, square Apple AirTag-like module, which users can easily remove. Garmin’s new sleep-tracking monitor’s armband is machine-washable. The company claims the device has a seven-night battery life. The wearable comes in two sizes: XS to S and M to XL.
Features for tracking women’s health and a smart wake alarm
Furthermore, Garmin has loaded the Index Sleep Monitor accessory with women’s health tracking and smart wake alarm functionalities. The device utilizes skin temperature to provide further insights into period prediction and the ovulation window. The wearable uploads all the collected data into the Garmin Connect application. The collected data synchronizes with other vitals, such as recorded activities, from the brand’s compatible smartwatches.
A standout feature of Garmin’s new device is its smart wake alarm. During a pre-selected time frame, the wearable detects when a user is at the lightest stage of sleep. It then delivers subtle vibrations to wake the wearer.
Coming to the pricing, Garmin has priced the Index Sleep Monitor competitively at $169.99. The wearable is already available for ordering on the brand’s website. Garmin will start shipping the sleep-tracking armband in 3 to 5 weeks.
