Gang Busted for Selling Ganja Laced Chocolates in Shadnagar, Telangana

Ganja Laced Chocolates

Hyderabad, July 6 – In a shocking case of drug peddling under the guise of sweets, the Excise and Prohibition Department, Shadnagar team, busted a gang involved in selling ganja-laced chocolates in Telangana’s Rangareddy district. Officials seized over 11 kilograms of the narcotic-infused chocolates, valued at approximately ₹3.50 lakh.

Based on credible intelligence, the Excise team conducted a raid at a shop located in Nandigama, Shadnagar mandal. During the operation, Pinto Singh, a native of Bihar, was caught red-handed while selling the illegal items to local residents. He was immediately taken into custody.

The accused had reportedly been sourcing the chocolates from Bihar, where they were prepared using ganja extracts and smuggling them into Telangana to sell at a premium. Officials also recovered a mobile phone from the accused, which is now being examined for contacts and details of the broader supply network.

Authorities suspect more individuals are involved and are continuing their investigation to trace the entire supply chain. The gang is believed to have been targeting young consumers and students, packaging the chocolates to appear like regular confectionery.

The Excise Department urged citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities involving drug-laced products. Further legal proceedings are underway under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

This bust adds to the growing list of cases where narcotics are being camouflaged in edible forms to avoid detection, raising concerns over innovative methods being adopted by drug traffickers.
