Here is the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7, complete with a larger cover display, finally. This year, Samsung has apparently decided to make the whole cover a display. Versus the sort of manila folder we had for the last few generations. This now makes it look a lot more like the Motorola Razr Ultra, ironically.
Now, the real upgrade for that cover display will be whether Samsung lets us use any app on that cover display, like Motorola has been doing for a few years. Currently, you’re limited to just a couple of apps, which you need to turn on in the Samsung Labs settings.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is also shedding some weight on its dimensions. As you can see in the image above, it is substantially thinner than the Galaxy Z Flip 6 from last year. That’s great news, even though the Flip was never really overly thick like the Galaxy Z Fold has been. But we’ll always take a thinner foldable that also weighs less.
The most powerful Flip phone to date
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 is set to be the most powerful flip phone to date, despite not being the first flip phone using Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite. The Motorola Razr Ultra has the Snapdragon 8 Elite; however, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will use an overclocked version called “Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy”, which will go up to about 4.47GHz on its Prime core. We’re also expecting it to be paired with 12GB of RAM and 128GB up to 512GB of storage.
The cameras are also expected to remain mostly the same, with a 50-megapixel primary camera and a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera. Battery capacity is also expected to remain unchanged, unfortunately, which is around 4,000mAh. That’s quite a bit lower than what Motorola offers in its Razr devices currently.
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 7 along with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 at Unpacked next month. We’ve been seeing rumors lately that the event is set to take place on July 9.
