Galaxy S26 Ultra’s Leaked Battery & Charging Will Disappoint You, Again

Galaxy S26 Ultra’s Leaked Battery & Charging Will Disappoint You, Again

In recent years, Galaxy phone fans have been clamoring for more innovations from Samsung. One area they’ve been waiting for for years is the battery. Currently, some big names are moving toward high-density batteries, for example. However, a recent report suggests that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra could arrive with a “disappointing” battery capacity.

Apparently, Samsung will maintain its somewhat conservative approach to battery innovation. According to reliable tipster PandaFlash , Samsung still has no plans to upgrade the cell capacity in the Galaxy S26 Ultra. And even if it does, the improved capacity will be below 5,400 mAh. This suggests that Samsung has decided not to resort to high-density batteries yet, despite rumors about that possibility.

Everything points to no battery upgrades for the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra

So, for now, it’s most likely that the next-gen Galaxy S Ultra will retain the 5,000 mAh capacity that all models have been using since the lineup’s launch in 2020. It’s noteworthy that 5,000 mAh is still a fairly decent capacity. Plus, Samsung typically offers good battery life through software and feature optimization. However, the numbers pale in comparison to what other brands—especially Chinese ones—are offering.

Lately, we’ve seen ambitious Chinese phone manufacturers packing massive batteries as large as 7,000 mAh into their devices. The OnePlus 13, also available on the OnePlus 13, boasts a 6,000 mAh cell. So, it’s disappointing that Samsung is still stuck with the same capacity it’s been using for years.

As if that weren’t enough, the report includes more disappointing news about the Galaxy S26’s battery. It seems that an improvement in fast charging power isn’t in Samsung’s plans either. Thus, the South Korean giant is reportedly maintaining support for 45W wired fast charging. Again, this is disappointing in an industry where smartphones support up to 150W fast charging. The source doesn’t mention the device’s wireless charging capabilities, though.

Samsung is betting on thinness

That said, there could be an explanation for Samsung’s possible decision regarding the Galaxy S26’s battery. The firm is reportedly focusing on slim designs as a differentiating factor for its devices. Therefore, Galaxy S phones have less physical space available to include components. Samsung recently gained some internal space in its Galaxy S handsets by removing the Bluetooth chip from the S Pen. However, instead of using it to add more battery capacity, it has opted to slim down its products.

Will Samsung’s strategy of prioritizing slim designs over larger batteries work? Only time will tell.
