Galaxy S21 FE, S24 FE also getting the March 2025 security patch

Android’s latest monthly patch continues to reach more Galaxy devices. While One UI 7 has been a long time coming, Samsung’s monthly updates have continued to arrive on time. This time, the company is sending the March 2025 security update to the Galaxy S21 FE and Galaxy S24 FE.

The Galaxy S21 FE was one of the first models in Samsung’s series of affordable Galaxy flagship phones. The device brought some improvements and refinements to the solid foundation of the original Galaxy S20 FE, attracting the attention of many due to its specs and price. On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 FE is the most recent release in the lineup. This model had a difficult start due to its high cost and few improvements compared to the previous model, but over time its price tag has been reduced, making it much more attractive.

March 2025 security update now reaching the Galaxy S21 FE and Galaxy S24 FE

As reported by SamMobile, the Galaxy S21 FE is now receiving the March 2025 security update. If you’re not aware, this device is available in two different chipsets. There’s a model powered by the Snapdragon 888 chip and another equipped with the Exynos 2100 SoC. Currently, the update is only reaching the international Snapdragon variant (SM-G990B2). The firmware, under build number G990B2ODMBGYC1, is being seen first in Europe and Asia.

On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 FE uses the same chip globally: the Exynos 2400e. According to the report, the international variant of the device (SM-S721B) is receiving the OTA under build number S721BXXS3AYB3. In this case, the update has been spotted in European countries. Samsung will likely extend its availability in the coming days.

Both the Galaxy S21 FE and S24 FE are eligible for One UI 7. Samsung promised four major Android updates for the Galaxy S21 FE—launched with Android 12. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S24 FE boasts Samsung’s updated support policy for flagship phones. That is, it will receive seven major Android upgrades—Samsung launched it with Android 14. In fact, the S24 FE is on the official list of the first batch of devices to receive the long-awaited Android 15-based One UI upgrade.

However, for now, users of both handsets will have to settle for the security patch. The OTA fixes up to 58 vulnerabilities, making the devices more secure.
