It seems that the recently released trailer of Jolly LLB 3 has invited fresh trouble for the makers. The film was already in hot water for the allegedly disrespectful portrayal of lawyers and the legal profession. Now, a new public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed against the makers of the Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi starrer.
Â
The PIL has been filed in the Madhya Pradesh High Court by a lawyer from Jabalpur against the song Bhai Vakeel Hai. The lawyer has objected to the lyrics of the song that have phrases such as, “fikar na kar tera bhai vakeel hai”, “package deals” and “judge ko mamu banana”. The lawyer claimed that these are an insult to the judiciary. Objection has also been raised on the actors dancing in black coats and lawyers’ gowns. The petitioner had demanded a stay on the release of the film. Madhya Pradesh High Court will hear the case on September 12.

This comes days after the Allahabad High Court dismissed a petition on the Bhai Vakeel Hai song. A petitioner claimed that the song allegedly insults the legal profession and the judiciary and also demanded a ban on the release of the film. However, a division bench of Justices Sangeeta Chandra and Brij Raj Singh dismissed the petition and ruled that they had not found anything objectionable. As per the verdict, “We did not find anything that warrants the interference of this court. We also looked at the lyrics of the song, and we did not find anything that interferes with the genuine profession of lawyers.”
Despite the legal hurdle, Jolly LLB 3 remains one of the most awaited releases of the year. The franchise has enjoyed strong success in the past, with the first film in 2013 turning into a sleeper hit and the 2017 sequel crossing the Rs 200 crore mark globally. Produced by Star Studio 18 and helmed by Subhash Kapoor, the film is slated to hit theatres on September 19, 2025.
