Fly into the Endurance Zone with JBL’s new open-ear earbuds

JBL has just announced the Endurance Zone earbuds, a pair of open-ear style true wireless earbuds meant for anyone who has any interest in sports and exercises on the regular. JBL is hailing these as the company’s first open-ear earbuds, and their design is meant to mimic the kind of sound profile you get from a pair of open-back headphones. At least, one particular part of it: The increased spatial awareness you have while the audio is playing.

As open-ear sport earbuds, the JBL Endurance Zone are marketed directly to sports enthusiasts. It’s easy to see why. Those who exercise often do so outside. In environments where it can be pretty important to have a grasp on your surroundings. Even in crowded gyms, you might want to be able to hear other people around you. For any number of reasons. Having recently tried a pair of open-ear earbuds myself with the OpenRock S2, I can see why there’s a market for this kind of technology. JBL’s Endurance Zone feature a similar style with the ear hook that goes around the back of your ear to keep a secure fit.

Additionally, they’re IP68 water and dustproof, and each earbud has dual beamforming mics for clear calls. They come in five colors, too.

The JBL Endurance Zone earbuds launch in July

According to JBL, its new earbuds will be launching in July, which means you can probably pick up a pair for yourself soon. That being said, the company only lists pricing for Europe in its official announcement. The earbuds will cost €129.99, which is about $151.53 based on the current exchange rate. They’ll be £119.99 in the UK according to TechRadar. The earbuds come in Black/Gray, Black/Lime, Purple/Grape, Blue/White, and White/Orange.

For battery life, these last up to 8 hours on a single charge. If you need more time than that, the charging case provides up to 24 hours. You even get 3 hours out of a 10-minute charge. So, it should be pretty easy to have battery life in these at all times. The earbuds come in a color-matched case, which is always nice to see. The case even has a lanyard hole for convenient carry.
