Hyderabad, July 3: A major fire broke out at a rubber manufacturing unit in the Katedan industrial area early Thursday morning, causing damage worth an estimated ₹4–5 lakh. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
According to officials, the fire erupted at around 4:00 am and was brought under control within an hour. “We received an alert and rushed five fire tenders to the scene. The flames were doused in about an hour,” said Ramu, a leading fireman from the Rajendranagar fire station, while speaking to Siasat.com.
The factory, which specializes in manufacturing rubber mats for automobiles and other rubber-based materials, was unoccupied at the time of the incident. Initial investigations suggest that a short circuit could be the likely cause.
“We suspect the fire originated due to a short circuit. There were no workers present when the incident occurred,” Ramu added.
Fire and safety officials have launched an investigation to confirm the cause of the blaze and assess the full extent of the damage.
