Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has found himself embroiled in legal trouble after an FIR was registered against him and two members of his production team of his upcoming film Love & War in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The complaint relates to the production of SLB’s new film, which stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal in leading roles.

As per a report by PTI, the FIR was filed following a complaint by Prateek Raj Mathur. He claims he was unfairly removed from the project despite being initially hired as a line producer. Mathur alleges that he had been formally assigned duties and had begun coordinating various aspects of the film’s production. However, according to Mathur, his contract was later terminated without any payment or justification. Neither Sanjay nor his team has opened up on the complaint yet.

Circle Officer Vishal Jangid confirmed to news agency PTI that the FIR was filed based on a directive from the court. The complaint has been lodged under several serious charges, including fraud, criminal conspiracy and criminal intimidation. Alongside Bhansali, the FIR also names producers Arvind Gill and Utkarsh Bali.

Mathur further claimed that when he attempted to meet the film crew at a hotel in Bikaner to address the situation, he was allegedly subjected to rude behaviour by Bhansali and others. The investigation into these allegations is currently being handled by Bichhwal Police Station’s SHO, Govind Singh Charan.

Love & War, directed by Bhansali, is described as a grand film that promises to deliver an intense narrative set against the backdrop of war. The film features Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal reportedly portraying rival officers. Alia Bhatt plays the female lead. Production has been underway for several months with Rajasthan serving as one of the key locations.

Reports from the project recently revealed that Bhansali had been prepping a high-budget climax sequence featuring a confrontation between the two male leads. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 20, 2026.
