BLACKPINK’s Kim Jennie and Lisa Manoban made plenty of Coachella headlines with their electrifying performances. Unlike previous years, where the YG Entertainment group headlined the music festival with all four members, this year, the members, now in their solo era, took over individual stages. Coachella 2025 was headlined by Lady Gaga, Post Malone, Green Day, and Travis Scott. And with stage shows, lip-syncing talk always finds a way in. The same happened this time, when Lisa, despite a solid soundcheck with her live vocals, got called out. And now, after the festival, a viral statement doing rounds on the internet has fans questioning if one of the event’s headliners threw “shade” at Lisa and Jennie.

‘lip sync her way through HBO’
After the festival, a statement believed to be from Lady Gaga has left Blinks stunned. In it, she says she never lip syncs — unlike some who make their way through an HBO special. “I never lip sync, I never have lip synced, and I never will. And as long as you’re paying money to buy a ticket to see my show, I’m not gonna waste your time watching a b*tch lip sync her way through an HBO special.” Fans were quick to connect the dots, since both Lisa (White Lotus) and Jennie (The Idol) starred in an HBO series. Lisa recently headlined Mike White’s hit White Lotus franchise, playing Mook, a healthcare advisor, and earned a lot of praise for her performance. But at the same time, she also landed in some lip sync troubles with her Elastigirl. With both idols attending the festival, some took Gaga’s words as throwing shade at the two, or especially at the Thai pop icon. While it may give off that vibe, there might be more to the story.
Lady Gaga has always taken pride in delivering full on live performances.

What’s the truth?
There’s no denying that the quote is indeed from Gaga, but it has nothing to do with Coachella 2025 at all. A clip surfaced on X showing the Bloody Mary singer saying the exact words during a 2011 speech while performing on stage. According to Koreaboo, the singer was at the time on her Monster Ball world tour. The part where she refers to HBO was her talking about how the show was being recorded for the OTT platform, and her own take on lip-syncing. So, the viral claim is false—Gaga didn’t shade either Lisa or Jennie.
In fact, in 2011, BLACKPINK didn’t even exist. The group debuted in 2016 with their single album Square One, which featured Whistle and Boombayah, and it wasn’t until recently that the members were handed their first acting gigs. And to shut down any feud rumours, Gaga and BLACKPINK actually collaborated in the past on the track “Sour Candy” from the singer’s Chromatica album.
Oh LADY GAGA end them‼️

BLACKPINK’s comeback
All four members of the K-pop idol group—Jennie, Lisa, Rosé, and Jisoo—parted ways with their management agency YG individually in 2024 and launched their own solo labels. However, they still signed a group contract, continuing to perform under BLACKPINK. Their comeback is scheduled for June 2025. Their last major release was Born Pink in 2022. According to industry insiders quoted by 10asia, “The BLACKPINK members have begun adjusting their schedules for recording and filming in preparation for the new album. The album will be released by June at the latest.” The comeback has also fueled rumours of a world tour, but we’re yet to hear anything official on that.
