Millions of Facebook and Instagram users faced a widespread outage on Tuesday, with many reporting issues accessing the platforms, logging in, and viewing or posting content. The disruption, which appeared to be global, led to a surge of complaints on Downdetector, a site that tracks service outages based on user reports.
Users across multiple regions found themselves suddenly logged out of their accounts, unable to sign back in, or encountering errors while trying to refresh their feeds. Some also experienced difficulties with messaging and other platform features.
Meta has yet to issue an official statement explaining the cause of the outage or when full functionality will be restored. The disruption follows a series of similar incidents in recent years, raising concerns about the reliability of Meta’s infrastructure.
This is a developing story.
