Pep Guardiola has played down expectations of winning silverware this season ahead of Manchester City’s FA Cup semi-final clash against Nottingham Forest.
The Spaniard has already classified the season as a failure with City sitting 18 points behind English Premier League (EPL) leaders Liverpool while also having been ousted by Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) Playoff round.
As such, Guardiola feels an FA Cup title would do little to satisfy the disheartened supporters.

He would rather focus on securing a UCL berth for next season by finishing in the top-five of the EPL.
“Too many matches have not been good [this season]. We would avoid bigger damage for the club if we win the cup. But what will dictate the season for us is
the Premier League,” said Guardiola.
The City boss is also aware that Forest — one point behind City in the EPL, with a game in hand — will be a tricky team to topple.
“It would be good to make the final, but we have a serious and tough rival. Nuno Santo [Nottingham Forest’s manager] has been incredible,” the City manager said.
