Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta chaired a high-level review meeting regarding the status of landfill sites on Wednesday in the presence of the officials concerned from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and the Urban Development Department.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the slow progress at the Ghazipur landfill site, the CM asked officials to carry out work at war-footing, to increase the number of modern machines, and ensure round-the-clock waste disposal operation at all three landfill sites. A detailed action plan was presented to speed up work.
Directives have also been issued for the expansion of waste-to-energy plants at Okhla and Tehkhand and promptly start the construction of proposed waste-to-energy plants in Narela and Ghazipur.
The MCD has been directed to conduct a three-month cleanliness campaign to improve sanitation systems and prepare a detailed plan for all three landfill sites.
