
Noida-based Dixon Technologies on Wednesday signed an MoU with the Tamil Nadu government (with Guidance) for setting up a new manufacturing facility at Oragadam near Chennai with an investment of ₹1,000 crore. The facility at IndoSpace Industrial Park will employ around 5,000 people and will manufacture laptops.
Tamil Nadu Industries Minister TRB Rajaa in a social media post said that HP laptops will soon be made in Tamil Nadu. “Under the visionary leadership of the Chief Minister MK Stalin, we are building a $100-billion electronics manufacturing ecosystem — and every factory we launch is a step closer to that dream,” he said.

In February, businessline had reported that Dixon will inaugurate a plant in the State by May with an investment of ₹1,000 crore and 5,000 jobs.
The electronics manufacturing company has facilities in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Andhra Pradesh. Tamil Nadu is the next destination, the company’s Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Atul B Lall, then told businessline. Chennai is the company’s 24th facility in the country, he added. In the first phase, the investment would be ₹250-300 crore, he had then said.
The company’s share price on the NSE closed at ₹13,278.25, up ₹286.45 (2.20 per cent).
