Dino seeks anticipatory bail following EOW probe in Mithi River desilting scam

Hours after facing intense questioning by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police in connection with the Rs 65 crore Mithi River desilting scam, actor Dino Morea has moved to court and filed an anticipatory bail application to seek relief, said sources.

The actor and his brother Santino were questioned for several hours by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Monday over his alleged link with the prime accused Ketan Kadam.

The SIT launched a preliminary enquiry into the Mithi River desilting and beautification project in March last year, after BJP MLCs Prasad Lad and Pravin Darekar raised serious concerns during the monsoon session of the Maharashtra Legislature.

The probe reveals a deep-rooted nexus between civic engineers, private firms and intermediaries aimed at systematically siphoning off public funds under the guise of cleaning the Mithi River. Subsequently, an FIR was filed at Azad Maidan police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including those dealing with criminal conspiracy, cheating, forgery and criminal breach of trust against 13 people.
