Dhamaka Director Nakkina on Zero Footfalls and Dying Night Shows

Director Trinadha Rao Nakkina, known for blockbusters like Dhamaka and Nenu Local, today commented that the audience have stopped visiting theatres. Speaking today at an event, he said that cricket matches are not the only reason for it.

“I have been to several places in Andhra Pradesh. Admissions have fallen drastically. Whole shows are getting cancelled. Night shows are slowly becoming a thing of the past,” Nakkina said.

Nakkina has produced a small film titled Chaurya Paatam, scheduled to be released later this month. “I am scared,” he admitted.

This IPL season, single screens even in Andhra Pradesh, are witnessing zero footfalls. With no big film in the race, upcoming releases like Odela 2, Arjun S/o Vyjayanthi, Bhairavam, Kannappa, Single and others have a pessimistic outlook. The industry is counting on Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu and Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambhara to end the dry spell. Nani’s HIT 3 and Vijay Deverkaonda’s Kingdom too are big favourites.

Trinadha Rao Nakkina’s most recently directorial, Mazaka, starred Sundeep Kishan and Rao Ramesh. The comedy entertainer flopped at the box office.
