A constable posted with the PCR unit of the Delhi Police last Saturday succumbed to injuries he sustained in an accident while performing his duties during the Assembly Elections in the Capital.
According to the Delhi Police, Nikhil Yadav was posted in the West zone of the PCR unit when he was injured in an accidental firing from another police officer’s service gun on February 5. Yadav was rushed to a hospital, and had been under treatment since the incident.
His last rites were conducted Sunday with a gun salute at his native village in Khaira, Najafgarh, officers said. “The Delhi Police paid homage to Constable Nikhil Yadav for his service and sacrifice. Several senior officers, along with fellow police personnel, attended the funeral,” said a police officer.
In a post on X, the Delhi Police said, “Heartfelt tribute to Constable Nikhil Yadav ji who lost his life while performing his duty. Delhi Police stands with the bereaved family in this hour of grief.”
