Delhi HC issues notice to BJP’s Parvesh Sahib Singh on plea challenging poll win from New Delhi seat | Delhi News

The Delhi High Court Wednesday sought a response from Delhi BJP MLA Parvesh Sahib Singh in an election petition challenging his win from the New Delhi seat in the 2025 Assembly polls.

Justice Jasmeet Singh also issued notice to all 26 respondents, who include former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit, others who contested from the seat, as well as the Election Commission of India and the Returning Officer (RO). The court posted the matter next for consideration on May 27.

The petition, filed by Vishvanath Agarwal, a candidate nominated by the NCP from the seat, has sought that the election in the seat be declared null and void. Agarwal has alleged that he could not file his nomination on time on January 17, which was the last day for filing nominations. Agarwal has alleged in his petition that only a few candidates could enter the RO’s room at the time of filing the nomination, while others were asked to wait. He said by the time the candidates who had entered first came out, it was already 3 pm — the cut-off by when nominations had to be filed.

Agarwal has further claimed he was “threatened and intimidated” by the RO to leave the premises or face severe consequences.
