
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is organising an event in the Capital (April 12 to 14) featuring plays on the life of King Vikramaditya of Ujjain, who is credited with starting the Vikram Samvat (Hindu calendar). Yadav’s association with plays on King Vikramaditya goes beyond just organising the event. Till he was an MLA, Yadav used to participate in the plays as an artiste, performing the role of King Vikramaditya’s father. However, after becoming a state minister, Yadav decided to stay away from the stage to focus on his political career.

Ever since the Waqf (Amendment) Bill cleared Parliament and got the President’s assent, BJP MP Jagdambika Pal is being felicitated by various social organisations, resident welfare associations and Muslim organisations for chairing the Joint Committee of Parliament that reviewed the Bill. Pal was given a rousing welcome when he reached Lucknow on Saturday evening. Sources said Pal has been receiving invitations to attend felicitation programmes with larger gatherings.
Away From Limelight
With one of its judges landing in controversy after discovery of cash at his home and he and two other judges being transferred in quick succession, a section of judges of the Delhi High Court are learnt to have resolved, albeit informally, to keep away from the limelight for now. It is learnt that some of the judges believe their socialising ‘habits’ may be giving rise to rumours and doing more harm than good to their reputation.
