Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Monday brought journalists under the umbrella of the “PDA”, a term coined by him for “Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak”. During a press conference on Monday, a journalist complained of a case against him for raising questions on the Pahalgam terror attack and said he was also receiving threats. In his reply, Akhilesh said that ‘P’ in PDA also meant ‘Patrakar’ and the journalist community, along with others, will be protected, too.
High Seat
At the funeral mass of Pope Francis, President Droupadi Murmu was seated near Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. However, Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju too was seated among the heads of the states — right behind Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. The seating arrangements for the dignitaries — other than the presidents of Argentina (Pope’s native country) and Italy (Pope is the Bishop of Rome) — were based on the French diplomatic alphabetical order and since Rijiju was the senior most minister from India, he got a prominent seat, sources say.
Bridge The Gap
Amid delay in textbooks for some classes, the CBSE is learnt to have communicated to the NCERT that if new textbooks for higher classes, Class 9 for instance, are being planned for the next academic year, they should be made available in advance, preferably by the end of this year. New textbooks for Classes 4 and 7 were made available only after the session began this month, while those for Classes 5 and 8 are yet to be provided. These classes are now using ‘bridge’ courses to ease the transition to the new material.
