Delhi L-G Vinai Kumar Saxena on Thursday hosted members of the Maharashtrian and Gujarati communities at Asita East Park on the eastern bank of the Yamuna to celebrate the foundation day of the two states. Union Home Minister Amit Shah was the chief guest at the event. Shah said the L-G could have organised the function at Raj Bhavan, but he wanted to showcase Delhi’s changing face through the venue. The Asita East Park is considered a pet project of the L-G. In March 2023, Saxena had also hosted envoys from G20 countries at the park by the river.

Celebrating Diversity

Storm Over Port

THE OPENING of the Indian express news, current affairs
has become the latest flashpoint among major political players in Kerala. While the Union Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and the Kerala government have issued separate ads with photos of both CM Pinarayi Vijayan and PM Narendra Modi with an eye on claiming credit, the Kerala BJP has published a different ViksitaKeralam ad with photos of the PM and state unit president Rajeev Chandrasekhar in it. The LoP in the Assembly, Congress’s V D Satheesan, has refused to attend the port’s commissioning event on Friday in protest against his name not being included in the first list of invitees, it is learnt. Sources said the original list of invitees did not include Chandrasekhar’s name too, but the PMO added his name and sent back the list to the state government. PM Modi will dedicate the seaport to the nation on Friday.
