
Addressing the AICC session in Ahmedabad, Rahul Gandhi, to attack the BJP, mentioned the incident of now-suspended BJP leader Gyandev Ahuja ordering “washing” of a temple after a visit by Leader of the Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly Tika Ram Jully. From the dias, he called Jully a couple of times, but Jully was nowhere to be seen. It turned out Jully had left for Jaipur early so that he could be at the airport to welcome Rahul, who after the session at Ahmedabad went straight to Jaipur on way to Ranthambore tiger reserve for a break.
Capital Visits
With new leadership comes new practices. New Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar has introduced a few rules of his own. It is learnt that the head office (read: Nirvachan Sadan) in Delhi has sent a message to Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) in all states, directing them to visit headquarters for at least for two days every month to interact with senior officers and update them on work in their respective states. Earlier, CEOs were never required to make notable visits to the Commission’s office in the Capital.
A Big Hand
At the end of the recent National Conference on Environment organised by the National Green Tribunal (NGT), Chairperson Justice Prakash Shrivastava appreciated the staff for the efforts they had put in for the conference, it is learnt. The 2025 event was the first NGT conference to be held since the 2017 World Conference on Environment during the tenure of former chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar. The 2025 conference saw several technical, legal and environmental experts sharing ideas on environmental conservation and related laws.
