Delhi Confidential: Iftar Bonding | Delhi Confidential News

Iftars in the Capital used to be a time for feasting and political networking at one point. Memories of those gatherings came flooding back at the iftar hosted by Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) MPs in Delhi on Thursday evening. Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge and KC Venugopal, and SP chief Akhilesh Yadav shared the table with Sayyid Sadiq Ali Thangal, Kerala chief of IUML. MPs from other Opposition parties had conversations at the get-together. Among other leaders present at the iftar were Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi, DMK’s T Siva and A Raja, MDMK’s Vaiko, TMC’s Kalyan Banerjee and Mohua Moitra, SP’s Jaya Bachchan, NCP-SP’s Supriya Sule, VCK’s Thol Thirumavalavan and BJP’s Neeraj Shekhar.

Bihar Poll Prep

Union Home Minister Amit Shah will likely visit Bihar at the end of this month to meet NDA leaders in the state. The meeting, sources said, is likely to focus on preparing a strategy for the Assembly elections, slated for October-November. Shah will also separately meet state BJP leaders and workers. These will be Shah’s first meetings in Bihar with regard to the state polls.

Feeling The Heat

With temperatures rising in the Capital, AC mechanics near Western Court MP hostel in central Delhi have been flooded with service requests. As the maximum temperature on Thursday touched 33 degrees Celsius, some MPs were seen complaining about their air conditioners not being serviced despite repeated requests. An MP even asked the hostel staff if he should “call someone from outside” to get his AC serviced.
