
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar hosted a group of women journalists at the recently inaugurated Vice-President’s Enclave on Tuesday morning. While the host did not shy away from taking direct questions from the journalists, he made sure the breakfast served to them also carried a special message. On the table were sesame ladoos made by his wife, Sudesh Dhankhar, invoking a touch of his home state Rajasthan; rosogollas, reminding of his days as the Governor of West Bengal between 2019 and 2022; and a plum cake just ahead of Christmas.
Protest In Peace
Workers of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) took out a march in Nand Nagri area of Delhi on Tuesday in protest against Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on B R Ambedkar made recently in the Rajya Sabha. BSP chief Mayawati had directed party units in all the states to stage demonstrations on the issue, but with a caveat. She had issued strict instructions to the workers not to raise the slogan of “murdabad” for any leader of rival parties. The workers were asked to take out peaceful marches and raise slogans only in the name of Ambedkar, Mayawati and party founder Kanshiram. BSP’s national coordinator Akash Anand communicated the guidelines to the workers at a programme in Delhi where he was the chief guest.
Marathi Conference
The Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan will be held in Delhi in February, returning to the Capital after a gap of 50 years. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is learnt to have accepted the invitation of the organisers to inaugurate the event. Also, Nationalist Congress Party (SP) chief Sharad Pawar will feature in the marquee event as president of the reception committee. The Union Government conferred classical language status on Marathi on October 3, 2024.
