The wedding reception of Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s sons was the go-to spot for political leaders of all shades in the capital on Tuesday evening. The Prime Minister, cabinet ministers, Governors, MPs across party lines and senior BJP leaders wished the recently married Kartikey and Kunal at the function. While Gujarati, South Indian and Awadhi cuisine were on offer, what got the most attention were dishes from the tribal Jhabua region of Madhya Pradesh, especially an afeem matar bhaji. Meanwhile, the chatter among guests was on Chouhan’s remark in Lok Sabha earlier in the day: “I am also going from Grihastha Ashram to Vanprastha Ashram. Today is my sons’ wedding reception. From tomorrow, I will become a Vanprasthi and serve farmers, which is like serving God.”
Road Request
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Wednesday received a “special” supplementary question in Rajya Sabha during Question Hour — from Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar himself. The Vice President requested the Road Transport and Highways Minister to look into connecting his birth village, Kithana in Rajasthan, to the national highway network to help cut travel time to Delhi. Gadkari told Dhankhar he would look into the matter.
