In a big development, Deepika Padukone is no longer a part of the sequel of Kalki 2898 AD. Vyjayanthi Movies, the production house behind the film, took to social media to make an official announcement. They said that despite the long journey of making the first film, they failed to find a partnership with the actress.

The post read, “This is to officially announce that

@deepikapadukone will not be a part of the upcoming sequel of #Kalki2898AD. After careful consideration, We have decided to part ways. Despite the long journey of making the first film, we were unable to find a partnership. And a film like @Kalki2898AD deserves that commitment and much more. We wish her the best with her future works.”
Take a look:

Kalki 2898 AD created quite a stir upon its release. Its cast included Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan, among others. The Nag Ashwin directorial also had cameos from Dulquer Salmaan and Vijay Deverakonda. The movie blended mythology with science fiction.

Deepika

In the film, Deepika played Sumathi, the prophesied mother of Kalki, the final avatar of Vishnu. She played a pivotal part in shaping the narrative and the journey of the characters. The makers have not yet revealed who will replace the actress.

Meanwhile, this comes after the actress was dropped from Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit. Earlier this year, reports suggested that the makers and the actress were not on the same page regarding her working hours and remuneration.
Vanga put out a cryptic post that read, “When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) between us. But by doing this, you’ve ‘DISCLOSED’ the person that you are… Putting down a younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for? As a filmmaker, I put years of hard work behind my craft & for me, filmmaking is everything. You didn’t get it. You won’t get it. You will never get it.”

However, these are not the only two films she stepped down from. She was supposed to star as a lead in the remake of The Intern, but reports now suggest that she has stepped down and will only focus on her role as a producer.
