
A businessman from Ghatkopar was booked on Sunday for allegedly driving his car under the influence of alcohol and causing an accident on Bandra-Worli Sea Link, injuring two of his friends from Kutch, Gujarat.
According to Worli police, Hetul Purushottam Ramjiyani, 30, was heading towards Ghatkopar along with his two friends Parth Limbani, 32, and Nareshkumar Pokar, 47, from Haji Ali via the sea bridge early Sunday, when he lost control over the vehicle that dashed into the divider before turning turtle.
Local police, traffic police and an ambulance reached the spot and took the injured Limbani and Pokar to hospital. The car was taken off the bridge using a crane and aws later towed to Worli police station along with the businessman.
Ramjiyani’s blood test confirmed that he was under the influence of alcohol, police said, adding he was booked under relevant sections of Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and Motors Vehicle Act for rash and negligent driving, drunken driving, dangerous driving, endangering life or personal safety and committing mischief.
