Two distinct films, Thamma and Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, hit the theatres this week. While the former extends the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe, the latter dives deep into an intense tale of love and obsession. With both films offering completely different cinematic experiences, their theatrical run is being closely watched.

Thamma’s Box Office Performance

Thamma is a supernatural horror-comedy that follows Alok Goyal (Ayushmann Khurrana), whose discovery of an ancient tribe of Betaals, vampire-like beings from Indian legend, turns his life into one misadventure after another. The film also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Thamma performed well on its first four days at the box office and earned an estimated ₹ 65.65 Cr India net. As per early estimates, on day 5 (October 25), the film collected ₹ 0.93 Cr so far, and the collections are supposed to go up as the day proceeds. As of now, the total collection stands at Rs 66.58 Cr as per Sacnilk.

Thamma is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Maddock Films.

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat Box Office Performance

Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat follows Vikramaditya Bhosle, a young politician on the verge of winning the upcoming elections in Maharashtra. Enter Adaa, a female superstar who changes the course of his life. Vikram finds himself smitten with Adaa and decides to pursue her, even when she’s not interested. After a few attempts to be friendly, he just lays out his love in front of her, in a series of obsessive encounters, and she finds his overbearing affection, creepy.

The film is having a good run at the box office. This Milap Milan Zaveri directorial stars Harshvardhan Rane, Sonam Bajwa, Shaad Randhawa, and Sachin Khedekar, among others. As per Sacnilk, the film earned an estimated Rs 22.75 Cr domestically on its first three days. On its fourth day, the film collected approximately Rs 5.5 crore, taking the collection to Rs 28.25 cr. The report in Sacnilk also stated that the film had an overall 18.56% Hindi occupancy on Friday, October 24.
