Bollywood actor Satish Shah dies at 74


Bollywood actor Satish Shah, known for his comic roles in television shows and films, died on Saturday. He was 74.

“It seems he passed away from a heart attack, however, we are awaiting the final reports from the doctor about the reason behind his death,” Ramesh Kadatala, the actor’s personal assistant, told PTI.

Shah died at his home in Mumbai’s Bandra East.

A graduate of the Film and Television Institute of India, his career spanned several decades.

He was best known for his role in the television series Sarabhai vs Sarabhai.

Shah also appeared in several prominent movies, including Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Main Hoon Na, Kal Ho Naa Ho and Om Shanti Om.

Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit confirmed the news of Shah’s death in a social media post and said it was “a huge loss for our industry”.

The Film and Television Institute of India stated in a social media post that it was “deeply saddened” by the news of Shah’s death.

“His artistry transcended generations, and his continued engagement with FTII reflected his commitment to nurturing the craft of cinema,” stated the institute. “The FTII community remembers him with profound gratitude and affection. May his legacy continue to inspire, and his soul rest in peace.”
