Dacoit, starring Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur in the lead, has picked Christmas as its release date. A December 25 release in Telugu cinema has become a major attraction for many movies these days.

Last year, Nithiin’s Robinhood and a couple of other movies aimed for a Christmas release. However, after the stupendous success of Pushpa 2 earlier that month, these movies opted out.

This year, too, there could be that danger. If Prabhas’ The Raja Saab releases in early December or for Christmas, Dacoit will be in trouble. There is also a possibility of Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 getting postponed to October or December now that Pawan Kalyan’s OG has chosen September 25.

Adivi Sesh’s Dacoit has the first-mover advantage among second-rung movies. But that’s not insurance in itself. The film is produced by Supriya Yarlagadda and Suniel Narang, both of whom are good at getting their release strategy right.
