Audi has launched AirConsole’s gaming platform in select vehicles, allowing passengers to play games using smartphones while the car is in motion.
The system works through Audi’s infotainment system and includes games such as Pictionary Car Party from Mattel. In models with passenger displays, Audi’s Active Privacy Mode blocks the screen from the driver to prevent distraction while allowing front passengers to play games during travel.
“This is a game-changer for in-car entertainment,” said Anthony Cliquot, CEO at N-Dream, the makers of AirConsole. “By enabling gameplay on the passenger screen in a way that prioritizes safety—by not distracting the driver—we’re taking a bold yet responsible step toward a future where cars are not just modes of transport, but platforms for shared digital experiences.”
The feature is available in Audi A5, Q5, A6, A6 e-tron, and Q6 e-tron models with Android-based infotainment systems across all markets where Audi operates.
Mattel has created Pictionary Car Party specifically for in-car use, allowing up to four players to connect via personal devices. The game celebrates the 40th anniversary of the original Pictionary.
“We’re thrilled to continue our partnership with AirConsole and work with the team at Audi to bring Pictionary Car Party to Audi’s infotainment systems,” said Erika Winterholler, Head of Business Development, Digital Gaming at Mattel. “Most importantly, the front passenger can safely control the game without distracting the driver, ensuring that entertainment and safety go hand-in-hand.”
The AirConsole catalog includes 13 additional games across racing, sports, trivia, and party categories. Available titles include Who Wants to Be a Millionaire from Sony Pictures Television, Overcooked from Team17, and UNO Car Party from Mattel.
Users access AirConsole through the Audi Application Store and download the app via the infotainment system. Passengers connect by scanning a QR code on the vehicle screen with their smartphones, which then function as game controllers.
The platform receives regular updates with new content. Previously, in-car gaming was limited to parked vehicles, but Audi’s system now allows gameplay during travel for non-driving passengers.
