
Allahabad University has initiated an internal inquiry into an alleged scuffle between two faculty members on the campus on Tuesday. While no formal police complaint has been filed, the local SHO said a police team was dispatched to the university in Prayagraj after the police control room received information of the scuffle.
“We have learned that a scuffle took place between two professors, but no formal complaint has been filed. Neither of the professors involved in the altercation is currently admitted to the hospital,” Station House Officer of Colonelganj Police Station, Pradeep Kumar Singh, said.
Jaya Kapoor, the public relations officer of the university, said the administration would comment on the matter only after receiving detailed information from an internal inquiry. Sources said the scuffle took place over a dispute between two teachers’ associations in the university.
According to sources, a heated argument between the two professors escalated into a physical altercation on Tuesday. An ambulance was called, and one of the professors was taken to the hospital for treatment.
