Ather Energy Limited, an Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has announced that its family scooter, the Rizta, has achieved a retail sales milestone of over 1 lakh units within a year of its market debut. Introduced in April 2024 and available for purchase from June 2024, the Rizta has played a role in expanding Ather’s reach, particularly in regions where its earlier presence was limited.
Since the launch of the Rizta, the company has seen an increase in market share across several key states, including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. The Rizta now accounts for about 60% of Ather’s total sales volume and has helped Ather become the leading electric two-wheeler brand in South India in Q4 FY25, as per Vahan data.
As Ather’s first family-oriented scooter, the Rizta played a role in expanding the company’s product portfolio. Since deliveries scaled up in Q2 FY25, the company’s market share has grown across key states, including Gujarat, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. Since its launch, the Rizta has become a significant contributor to the brand’s sales and has supported its positioning in markets across India. Data from Vahan indicates that in Q4 FY25, Ather became the top electric two-wheeler brand in South India, with the Rizta and the Ather 450 series combined.
The Rizta includes features such as 56 litres of under-seat storage, a wide seat, and a spacious floorboard. It is also equipped with several safety and connectivity features. One of these is SkidControl™, a traction control system that helps manage motor torque on low-friction surfaces like sand or gravel. Other features include a Tow & Theft Alert system, an Emergency Stop System that flashes the tail light during sudden braking, and a ‘Live Location Sharing’ feature enabled by AtherStack 6. Additionally, the dashboard includes Google Maps for navigation.
Ather Energy, founded in 2013 by Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain, currently offers two electric scooter lines: the performance-focused Ather 450 series and the family-oriented Rizta. The company has also established Ather Grid, a fast-charging network for electric two-wheelers, with 3,611 chargers installed across India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka as of March 31, 2025. Ather also holds numerous registered patents, trademarks, and designs globally.
