Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup, which is likely to include devices such as the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Air, is slated to come in a new lavender color, according to a recently leaked image. The color is rumored to be called ‘Lilac’ according to a post on Weibo where the image originated from. However, Phone Arena is reporting that ‘Lavender’ is going to be the official name. It’s possible that lilac is incorrect and simply the result of the translation in the browser. It’s a reasonable assumption, given how inaccurate browser translation can be at times.
Either way, Apple’s iPhone 17 appears to be coming with a brand-new color, just like the iPhone 16. This isn’t the first time Apple has made a purple iPhone. The iPhone 12 came in a much deeper purple color, while the iPhone 14 series offered a purple color that was fairly muted. The Lavender color for the iPhone 17 appears to be somewhere in the middle of those two.
The Lavender color may only be for the base model iPhone 17
This isn’t really an uncommon thing, as many brands do this with devices. Samsung, for example, usually offers one color of its Galaxy S and Galaxy Watch devices that is exclusive to one model or another. Google also does this with its Pixel phones. So, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Apple is rumored to be bringing in an exclusive color for the base model iPhone 17.
According to the report, the Lavender color will be for the iPhone 17 base model only. Which means, you probably won’t be seeing it available on the iPhone 17 Plus or the iPhone 17 Pro. Keep in mind, this is just a rumor for now. It hasn’t been confirmed by Apple, and things could change. This could also mean that other models in the lineup will get their own exclusive colors as well.
Apple is expected to release the iPhone 17 lineup in the middle of September. This is the time it typically announces its newest iPhones, and it launches them shortly after. While there’s no exact date yet, Apple will likely reveal the iPhone 17 this Fall at WWDC.
