Apple announced the next major updates for its iOS and macOS platforms at WWDC 2025. These upcoming updates are expected to arrive later this year. However, if you can’t wait and want to get a taste, 9to5Mac has shared the official iOS 26 and macOS 26 wallpapers, which you can download right now.
iOS 26 and macOS 26 wallpapers
There are two different sets of wallpapers that you can download. One that is a dark mode version of the wallpaper, and the other is for light mode. iOS has a feature that automatically switches between dark and light mode wallpapers if you’re using Apple’s official wallpapers. While these are the official wallpapers, they’re not part of iOS 18, so you’ll have to swap them out manually for now.
The iOS 26 wallpapers are available here, while the macOS 26 wallpapers can be downloaded here. As expected, both iOS and macOS wallpapers hint at Apple’s new Liquid Design for its revamp across its platforms.

Apple’s new Liquid Design language
Apple hasn’t really changed the design of iOS since iOS 7. The company has updated the UI with some tweaks and improvements here and there, but for the most part, it has stayed pretty much the same. This isn’t a bad thing. Many users are used to the current design, which makes it easier when upgrading.
However, it has gotten a bit old. Since smartphone tech has peaked, phone makers need to find new ways to keep existing customers interested and entice new ones. In Apple’s case, the company has revamped the design language across its products with what it’s calling “Liquid Glass.”
It has a modern look. However, the glass-like effects give it a slight throwback to Apple’s earlier skeuomorphic days. It also uses a lot of transparency so that the menus and buttons don’t stick out like sore thumbs.
It has been rumored that Apple’s new design language is actually a precursor of what’s to come. The iPhone’s 20th anniversary is coming up in 2027. Apple is rumored to introduce a new iPhone design with glass making up most of the phone’s construction. We have no idea what it will look like, but a mostly-glass iPhone coupled with the Liquid Design interface could look pretty sweet.
