Antonio Filosa Appointed CEO of Stellantis, Effective June 23

Stellantis N.V. has named Antonio Filosa as its next Chief Executive Officer, effective June 23, following a unanimous decision by the company’s Board of Directors. Filosa, who currently serves as Chief Operating Officer for the Americas and Chief Quality Officer, will take over CEO responsibilities as the company enters a critical phase of global transformation in the automotive industry.

Filosa brings over 25 years of automotive industry experience to the role. He has served in several senior leadership positions, including Chief Operating Officer for South America, where he led FIAT to market leadership and significantly grew other brands such as Peugeot, Citroën, Ram, and Jeep®. His efforts helped solidify Stellantis’ regional dominance and included overseeing the launch of the Pernambuco plant—one of the largest automotive hubs in South America—and the successful debut of Jeep in Brazil.

The appointment follows a thorough executive search conducted by a special committee of the Board, led by Executive Chairman John Elkann. An Extraordinary Shareholder Meeting will be convened shortly to confirm Filosa’s role as an executive director on the Board. In the meantime, the Board has granted him CEO powers to ensure continuity and a seamless leadership transition.

As CEO of Jeep, Filosa expanded the brand’s global footprint, especially in Europe, with popular models like the Jeep Avenger contributing to sales growth. In October 2024, he was named Chief Operating Officer for North America, followed by an expanded Americas-wide COO role in December 2024, and was appointed Chief Quality Officer in January 2025.

In his recent tenure leading the Americas, Filosa has focused on reorganizing the leadership team, reducing excessive dealership inventories, accelerating new product and powertrain introductions, and enhancing relations with dealers, unions, and suppliers.

Executive Chairman John Elkann expressed confidence in Filosa’s leadership, citing his extensive experience, deep knowledge of the company, and proven ability to navigate challenges. Vice Chairman Robert Peugeot echoed the sentiment, calling him “the natural choice” to lead the company forward. Nicolas Dufourcq, CEO of Bpifrance, also voiced support, highlighting Filosa’s capabilities in managing industry transformation.

Filosa expressed gratitude for the appointment and reaffirmed his commitment to the company’s legacy and workforce. “We have the world’s best and most iconic brands in automotive history and an over 100-year heritage of innovation,” he said, adding that the passion of Stellantis’ employees would continue to drive excellence.

Filosa holds a master’s degree in engineering from Politecnico di Milano and an executive MBA from Fundação Dom Cabral in Brazil. He joined the Fiat Group in 1999 and has since held positions such as plant manager at Betim, head of purchasing for Latin America, and head of operations in Argentina and FCA Latin America.

He currently resides in Michigan, USA, and is expected to announce Stellantis’ new leadership team upon formally assuming the CEO role in June.
