Another Google Pixel 6a Melted While Charging

Another Google Pixel 6a Melted While Charging

Google’s affordable Pixel A series continues to get a bad rap. Unfortunately, some reports have recently emerged that the company’s Pixel 6a, which is due to launch in 2022, was overheating and even melting while charging. Apparently, another Google Pixel 6a recently melted while charging.

Google Pixel 6a melted while charging

According to Android Authority, a reader named Arielle plugged in her Pixel 6a device with a non-OEM charger before going to bed. However, she woke up a few hours later to the sound of an overheating alert coming from her phone.

Immediately after this warning, Arielle heard a popping sound and smelled something burning. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much she could do at that point because the Pixel 6a had already melted while charging. Looking at the photos she shared, we can see that the smartphone’s screen has separated from its casing. In short, it has become completely unusable.

The user also says that the device’s case even stuck to clothes in its immediate vicinity due to the melting of the device. This naturally raises questions about the Pixel 6a model to a great extent.

The user immediately reported the incident to Google Fi support. Google contacted her shortly afterwards. The company said it would provide the user with a Pixel 8a as compensation for the damage. It also asked her to send the melted Pixel 6a phone in for inspection.

Do not charge phones with cheap and unknown third-party chargers

Unfortunately, this situation will remain a mystery until Google issues an official statement. It is still unknown whether the melting issue was caused by a defect in the smartphone or by the third-party charger.

In both cases, using phones that cost a lot of money with non-original and cheap chargers poses a great risk. Instead, well-known brands such as Anker, UGREEN, Baseus, Belkin, and phone manufacturers such as Google and Samsung, whose products meet certain standards, should be preferred.
