Angry Jaya Bachchan gets netizens’ support as she rebukes elderly fans for asking for photos at Manoj Kumar’s prayer meet. Watch | Bollywood News

Veteran actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar’s death has left a deep void in the film industry. A day after his funeral, his family organised a prayer meet on Sunday to honour his memory. Several Bollywood stars gathered to pay their last respects to the legendary actor. However, a brief moment at the meet drew attention for the wrong reasons. Veteran actor Jaya Bachchan, who attended the prayer meet, was seen getting visibly upset with two elderly fans who approached her for a photo.

A video capturing the uncomfortable interaction is now making the rounds on social media. The clip showed Jaya speaking to a group of women when another elderly woman tapped her on the shoulder to get her attention. Meanwhile, a man, who seems to be accompanying the woman, was seen holding up a phone camera, attempting to click a picture of the two. As Jaya turned around, the woman extended her hand for a handshake. This appeared to irk Jaya, who pushed the hand aside and called out the man for trying to take a photo. The fans seemed apologetic and can be seen smiling and saying, “Sorry” after the exchange.

Jaya’s reaction has sparked mixed reactions online. While some criticised her behaviour as rude, most defended her stance, saying that it was inappropriate to ask for photos at a sad occasion. One user commented, “I don’t think she was trying to meet but was trying to click a photo with jaya. Funeral isn’t the right place to click pics. Jaya can also talk politely 🤷🏼‍♀️.” Another fan wrote, “I’m sorry but why on earth would you think that a funeral is an appropriate place to ask for photos?” Another fan wrote, “People trying to click pics in prayer meet should be kicked out. This time, Jaya is right.”

Apart from Jaya Bachchan, several celebrities including Aamir Khan, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Farhan Akhtar, Esha Deol, Udit Narayan, Prem Chopra, Sonu Nigam and others, attended Manoj Kumar’s prayer meet. Aamir even spoke to the media and remembered the late actor. He said, “I regret not meeting him. I knew he wasn’t well, but I couldn’t meet him. I spoke to his son also. I couldn’t meet him, and I will always regret that. I was a big fan of his work and always will be. It’s a great loss. He was one of the greatest filmmakers of India. He was a true son of the soil.”
