Amjed Ullah Khan Requests Action from Telangana CM Over Alleged Harassment of Muslims and Vigilantism

In a strong statement directed towards the Telangana Chief Minister, Sri Anumula Revanth Reddy, prominent political leader Amjed Ullah Khan raised concerns about the growing influence of saffron politics in the state. He alleged that under the current government, Telangana is steadily turning into a saffron bastion, with BJP and RSS workers taking the law into their own hands, while Telangana Police allegedly harass Muslims on flimsy pretexts.
The allegations were brought to light following an incident that occurred on May 5, 2025, at Bijnapally Kanta. A four-wheeler bearing the registration number TS08 UB 4638, which was carrying animal bones intended for use in fertilizer production, was intercepted and attacked by BJP/RSS workers at around 7:00 PM. Following the assault, the vehicle and its occupants were handed over to the Bijnapally Police Station.
According to Khan, the factory owner of the vehicle promptly approached the Sub-Inspector of Police (SI), Bijnapally Police Station and subsequently met with the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Nagar Kurnool, providing all relevant documents and licenses for the factory operations. Despite furnishing proper documentation, the driver and cleaner of the vehicle have allegedly been detained in the police station lockup for over 48 hours, reportedly without access to food and water.
Khan criticized the police’s handling of the situation, accusing the SI of Bijnapally of neglecting to take action against the BJP/RSS workers responsible for the assault. Instead, Khan alleged that the Sub-Inspector is unjustly harassing the factory owner and attempting to fabricate false charges against him. “Did we Muslims vote for Congress in Telangana for this kind of treatment?” Khan questioned, expressing his disappointment over what he perceives as political bias and misuse of authority.
In his appeal to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Amjed Ullah Khan urged the state government to uphold justice and impartiality, calling for the intervention of the Director General of Police (DGP), Telangana, and the Superintendent of Police (SP), Nagar Kurnool. He demanded that they address the misconduct of the Sub-Inspector and ensure the immediate release of the factory owner, driver, and cleaner. Additionally, Khan insisted that a criminal case be registered against the BJP/RSS workers involved in the attack, citing the need for accountability and legal action against vigilantism.
Khan’s statement has sparked discussions within local political circles, with activists and community leaders echoing concerns over rising incidents of mob justice and alleged police bias. Human rights groups have also voiced the need for a fair investigation into the matter, urging authorities to prevent such occurrences in the future.
The Telangana government has yet to release an official statement regarding Khan’s allegations. Political analysts predict that the issue may bring further scrutiny to the handling of communal tensions in the state, particularly in rural districts where political affiliations often intersect with law enforcement actions.
As of now, the driver and cleaner remain in custody at Bijnapally Police Station, while Khan’s demand for accountability and immediate action continues to resonate among community members and local leaders alike. Whether or not the Telangana government responds swiftly to these allegations may shape the public’s perception of justice and communal harmony under its leadership.
